Plain and simple, you're not going to have a better seafood meal anywhere else. I don't know that there's a lot that I can say that would improve on what has already been said about the Sea Chest. So, I'll just say it as I see it. You have to get up pretty early to be first in line, but it's worth the show when sitting at the bar. Bring a bottle of wine and a camp chair to sit out side (maybe an extra bottle to share with everyone else too!) while you wait. Come hungry, especially when sitting at the bar with the full kitchen in view. You'll want to try a bit of everything. Lastly, always have desert. There's no bad dish at the Sea Chest, only seafood treasure.

This is, by far the best restaurant on the central coast. Hidden away at Moonstone beach, sitting at the bar and watching the magic happens is where it's at. You not only get a show, but you'll make friends along the way while eating amazing food like jumbo scallops, garlic bread, fresh oysters. The list goes on. And hey, keep in mind that so does the line. Or the line up as they say it's real. People line up way early. Me though? No. I go late. Like 6pm, put my name down for an 8pm table and I'm GTG. So head to the Sea Chest, and see...what's the best.

OMG, I'm so glad I didn't skip Sea Chest because of the mixed reviews. There was a tailgate line, and we got there around 4:50. I didn't think we'd make it to the first round, but we did because there were that many people in line before us. First, our server was such a sweet lady. We asked for a second round of bread, and she was very polite about getting it for us. I kind of wish we hadn't, though, because we were so full afterward! The service was great, and our food was perfect. We ordered the shore fish and Alaska halibut. Overall, my husband loved the shore fish; it was so tender and delicious compared to the halibut. The halibut was still good too, but I would've preferred the shore fish if I had to choose between the two. The clam chowder was good as well. Each entrée comes with a choice of clam chowder or salad. The restaurant itself is so cute, with a lovely decor setting. It's very nice and clean too. Overall, I'm glad we tried Sea Chest. We had a great time!

This place is loaded with character, excellent food, and wonderful first-class service. We felt like we were on a large wooden ship somewhere near Martha's Vineyard - in the 80's! The wait is a little long, but worth it. They don't take Credit Cards, so bring cash or you can use their ATM machine. The ocean view is spectacular and the patrons all look so happy as they dig into their delicious meals.

Bestie and I were put onto the Sea Chest from Frank at Zin Alley in Paso, when we told him we'd probably drive into Cambria. Frank told us the line forms early in the parking lot. It does! Sea Chest has their own poppin tailgate. Chairs, coolers, home made charcuterie boards, drinks, books, fun, friends, laughter, conversations with strangers and locals alike. I think the pre game is part of the experience here if I'm being completely honest. Can't beat the views of the Pacific right in front of you along Moonstone Beach. We spotted a line at 330p and decided by 4p we'd better get in it for a 530p opening. We waited, we chatted, and soon enough little miss impatient had made it 90min to their opening. Frank suggested to us we sit at the bar/counter. I love a bar stool, little miss impatient is also little miss curious and I love being able to see everything being made. If you want to view where the magic happens you'll enjoy a counter seat. It's amazing watching these guys make every last dish in front of you. We started with the the sourdough bread rolls and ordered the calamari strips appetizer, bestie ordered Halibut and I had the clams with linguine. We both had clam chowders but the salad option also looked very nice. Everything was delish! I dipped over to the ATM after we finished because this is a CASH ONLY spot and I started to worry, what if everyone needs cash so I wanted to get that out of the way soon. I can't imagine not coming back here when in town. It seems everyone does. I think it'll be a new staple. Very fun time. Very enjoyable meal and "worth the wait" as everyone will tell you.
